Do your cardio after you hit the weights in order to burn the most calories. Research shows that you burn significantly more fat than when you do cardio before hand. It is also shown that you burn the most fat in the first 15 minutes of cardio so try to do some cardio after your training, even if it’s only 15 minutes. For an alternative way to do your cardio that won’t leave you feeling bored at the end of your workout, try staggering your cardio into your lifting. Instead of doing a 30-minute run at the end, try mixing in three 10-minute sessions instead.

It’s a part of the American Dream. One of the biggest purchases one will ever make, owning your own home can be one of the most satisfying (or horrific) experiences of your life. AskMen.com recently posted an article addressing the age-old question of “should I rent or should I buy?”
To buy or not to buy? These days, that really is the question. Asking her to come back to your place would feel so much better if the damned place was actually yours, wouldn’t it? Then maybe you’d have spent some money to replace that carpet the Guinness ended up on last St. Paddy’s…

In last night’s pre-season game between New England and Cincinnati, Chad “Esteban” Ochocinco made an appearance as kicker Shayne Graham was injured in warmups. While Chad kicked in high school and is a self described soccer fanatic, he had never kicked in an NFL game until last night. The most surprising thing of all was how well he actually did. The Bengals open the season September 13 and can also be seen on HBO’s Hard Knocks.

While a lot of guys think you should stick to low reps (3-7) and heavy weight, others will tell you that less weight and higher reps (8-15) is the way to go. The truth is that both are effective no matter what your goals. Even if you are trying to stay lean, it is important to mix in some heavy sets on occasion to keep your metabolic rate up. Try switching it up every few weeks or for each exercise go with two heavy sets and two high rep sets.

You may not like Brett Favre’s most recent attempt at a comeback; I can understand. Many people feel that he needs to throw the towel in already. In light of all the talk around his current situation, I remembered a classic movie he appeared in. There’s Something About Mary. Click the link and watch a younger Brett Favre attempt to act. It’s pretty damn funny.

When trying to slim down, many people choose to focus the majority of their workout on cardio with little or no strength training. While the cardio burns more calories during the actual 30 minute session, lifting weights burns more overall. A recent study shows that an hour long strength training session burns about 100 calories more in the 24 hours following. Lifting is also proven to burn more actual fat and not just pounds. Focusing on a strict, cardio only routine can chew up a lot of the muscle as well.
Start a Lifting Routine
Start with 3 weight training sessions per week and try to hit all areas of the body. For each exercise perform 3 sets with a weight that allows you to reach failure at 10-12 reps. To really ramp up the calorie burning, try to rest no longer than 30 seconds between sets.

It’s that time of year again. The pigskin is back out and the NFL is in the midst of another grueling pre season as we prepare for a big year of professional football. Amid all the excitement for the upcoming year, many gamers eagerly await the newest version of EA Sports most coveted title – Madden.
In Madden 10, we are introduced to a new online feature called the Online Franchise. This new aspect of the game allows you to compete in an online league with 31 of your closet friends. Also new to this years version of Madden is the cover. The infamous Madden curse lives on, and with two players (Larry Fitzgerald & Troy Polamalu) bearing the cover of this years game it has many wondering if both players going down with an injury.
Overall, Madden 10 go solid reviews and I look forward to picking up a copy this weekend and laying beat-down on the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
