RYAN LEAF – DIARY OF AN NFL PUNCHLINE

The NFL in our opinion is the ultimate professional sports league. Where the strongest, fastest, toughest athletes compete for the ultimate honor. The league that brought you John Elway, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady. Few will argue that these men are the pinnacle of professional athlete, a perfect combination of intelligence, decision-making, and God-given athletic ability. There is no position in all of professional sports that requires such perfection.
When a star player in the MLB goes 0-5 with 3 strikeouts, hardly anyone notices. In the NFL, you are constantly under the microscope. With such expectations of today’s quarterbacks, there is a seedy underbelly of the NFL; the QB who just flat out didn’t cut it.
I’m not talking about guys who never win a Super Bowl or have a mediocre career. I’m talking about a guy who comes out with all the expectations in the world and falls so flat on their face that every casual fan is forced to take notice. Because while we love a great feel-good story like Eli Manning winning the Super Bowl, one thing will always remain:
